We won Lehigh Valley builders Association award for this project! This is the second time we remodeled this kitchen, the first was in 2002, two years ago, we made it bigger and better. The narrow kitchen was the hub for the home, and the under-used formal dining room was through a narrow doorway that felt disconnected. We jacked up the second floor, installed a beam to carry the weight, and removed the wall to create a bigger space. We weaved in matching hardwood and painted everything the same color to blend both rooms together. New cabinets were ordered to match the owners heirloom cherry drop leaf table. The island seats eight, and the wet bar is great for parties and making coffee. The cabinets are topped with granite, and the island has a chunk of Italian Verde marble. We even converted an unused mudroom into a huge walk-in pantry.
