Project Description
This is the second time we remodeled this kitchen. The first time, shown above was 2002, ten years later we made it bigger and better. The narrow kitchen was the hub of the home, and an under-used formal dining room was through a narrow doorway that felt disconnected. We jacked up the second floor, installed a beam to carry the weight, and removed the wall to create a bigger space. We weaved in matching hardwood and painted everything the same color to blend both rooms together. New cabinets were ordered to match the owners heirloom cherry drop-leaf table. New cabinets, a island that seats 8, and dual work stations with bookcases above make this the most popular room in the house. The cabinets are topped with granite, and the island has a chunk of Italian Verde Marble.
